One Semester down

My intention was to post several times this semester.  Well, that didn't happen.  Today, grades are due so the semester is over.  Some preceding students say I took the hardest class this semester while others say it was the easiest.  I hope it was the hardest -- I made an "A".  Plan on taking 'Research Design' in the Spring.

First day of class

Classes start today.  I'll be taking EM802 - Interactive Seminar #1 and EM812 - Disaster Management Principles and Practice.  Wish me luck; I'm going to need it. :)

First day of seminar

Well, I'm a bit overwhelmed today.  This is going to be very hard.

The department head, Dr. Tim Ryan, begin the day telling us that we were the cream of the crop.  36 applied and 12 of us were chosen.  I guess we're winners, already.

We started off the day with class introductions.  We have a police officer, a couple of fireman, several community workers, an electrician (volunteer fireman) and a couple of academics - then me.  Quite a diverse group!!

Before Lunch, we got our student ID's and made a quick trip tot he Bookstore.  I really need to learn how to smile. :)

Lunch, with several facility members, was provided for us in the Presidents Dinning Room.  He was not able to join us but will on Wednesday.

The afternoon was spend discussing our research interests and a refresher on how to use the distance learning web portal (ie., BlackBoard).

Tonight we had a reception sponsored by last years' cohort.  We get to sponsor it next year. Thinking positive, right!  I just hope I make it to next year.  About 30% of the last one have dropped out.
